CELEBRATE THE OCEAN ON JUNE 7

World Ocean Day for Schools!

WHAT: A celebration of our ocean connection!

World Ocean Day for Schools is a day to celebrate the role the ocean plays in all our lives, to learn more about our blue planet and to kickstart a fun conversation between children, parents, teachers and communities about our relationship with the ocean.

Participating schools receive a free toolkit of the best curriculum linked resources, including exciting new lesson materials, fun activities and event ideas. Created in partnership with leading organisations that share our love of the ocean, rivers and estuaries, and developed so that children learn more about the ocean and their connection.

WHEN: Friday the 7th of June 2019

World Ocean Day is 8th June which falls on a Saturday this year so we will celebrate at schools on Friday 7th June.

WHERE: At YOUR school!

Simply click here to register your school for free and unlock a treasure chest of resources.

WHY: to raise awareness of the human connection to the ocean, and the ocean’s connection to humans.

We know that all of our education needs to be more ecologically grounded. However, even the nature curriculum we do have is very green; there is an immense need for more blue. And while we are not setting out to directly change the curriculum, we provide the learning resources so that children can talk about the ocean in a meaningful way.

Dive in. Discover. Celebrate. Kickstart a conversation in your school wherever you are on World Ocean Day. Friday, June 7th, 2019 and let’s teach children about our beautiful blue planet.

The themes are used to curate the best curriculum content and are provided free for use on the day and throughout the year. We have partnered with the leading marine NGOs including Marine Conservation Society, Thames Estuary Partnership, National Marine Aquarium, Marine Biological Association, WWF, The Wild Network and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

OUR CONNECTION TO WATER.

Our connection to water, and relationship with, health & wellbeing. We are watery beings. When we’re born we are 75% water. All water is connected to the ocean and so are we. Our resource toolkit will help kids discover their connection to water and the ocean.

OUR IMPACT ON THE OCEAN.

From plastics to pollution, everything ultimately leads to the ocean. How we live in our homes, schools, villages, and cities impacts the ocean in the end. Our resource toolkit will help kids learn about how their actions affect the ocean and what they can do about it.
